The Chauncey
FilmScene at the Chauncey is a three-screen venue located in a landmark building in downtown Iowa City, along College and Gilbert streets. Our building includes a restaurant, bowling alley, boutique hotel and café. The building is located in the heart of our community, just minutes away from many other great destinations.

Travel:
FilmScene is located near I-80, Iowa Highway 1 and US Highway 6. If you are traveling on I-80, the Dubuque Street Exit (244) is the nearest exit.
Parking:
FilmScene at The Chauncey is connected to the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp. There are multiple other downtown ramps within a short walk. A full map of downtown parking ramps is available here.
Metered parking is free after 6:00pm and all day on Sundays along all of the streets downtown.
The cinema
Our state-of-the-art three-screen facility (117-seat, 65-seat and 25-seat) opened in the fall of 2019, with the 2021 addition of a half-acre outdoor cinema space, FilmScene in the Park. Boasting the Midwest's best digital picture and sound, 35mm and 16mm capabilities and a selection of comfortable seating for every taste, FilmScene at the Chauncey is a landmark destination for Iowa cinephiles.
Ticketing
FilmScene at The Chauncey is reserved seating for most shows. Select your seats online from home or in person at the box office and you'll have more time to visit the concession stand or mingle with friends instead of guarding your seat!
Accessibility
FilmScene strives to be a space for everyone.
All of our theaters offer wheelchair seating and companion seating. Both of our locations offer accessible restrooms, concession stands and lobby areas. FilmScene at The Chauncey offers a drop-off zone on College St. and a covered walkway from the parking ramp.
FilmScene at The Chauncey offers weekly open caption screenings, plus assistive listening headsets and closed-caption devices for all digital movies with closed captioning available. Headsets and caption devices are available upon request at the box office.

FilmScene at the Chauncey is currently open seven days a week. Our Box Office opens one hour before the day's first showtime.
In addition to tickets, our box office sells gift cards in any denomination, FilmScene memberships, and select merch.
